Jewels can be a life savor to any dead beat outfit - especially if they are {frosted}. This entire post features pieces from BaubleBar - a ridiculously inexpensive (I am talking $30 and under!) jewelry line with really chic, on-trend pieces. They have rapidly become one of my costume jewelry go tos. Shop BaubleBar Here!
Someone pinch me. I am almost two weeks into my new job and I am still in a state of shock. I recently left Vanity Fair Magazine to pursue my dream of working at a fashion public relations firm in New York City. I am beyond in love with my career at Wetherly Fashion Group and couldn't resist sharing some of our major clients. We have clients across all boards - from ready to wear, to fine jewelry, to shoes & swim.
I don't know about you, but I always have to pull out my "fat girl jeans" after my Thanksgiving day {or multiple days with leftovers} feast. Here is a list of some super foods that actually help you to burn fat. Rest assured, I will be eating as many of these as possible for a few days!
Giving thanks with {and for} family and friends, falling into a food induced comma from eating mass amounts of tryptophan and drinking mass amounts of wine... what's better than that, really?
Pssst - it's all of the major SALES that the holiday's bring!!!
A few of my personal favorites $ales this $eason include:
With the perks of the fall and winter seasons come the holiday's, the friends, the family, the food, the joy, thesweaters...
I can't think of something more that I love than good old sweater weather. A few of my not-so-normal yet- not-so-crazy favorites include the CARVEN hairy sleeve sweater and the 3.1 Phillip Lim break-up pullover.
There is no better way to spruce up an outfit {and let everyone know you are the cool girl on the block} than with a brilliant statement piece. Make your outfit with one of these colorful pieces.
It's hard to believe that I have yet to find just the right jewelry holder. Nothing has ever struck my fancy enough for me to make a purchase, so I finally decided that if I wanted something done right, I'd have to do it myself - and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome! This super simple, super cute and super useful jewelry holder did not cost me more than ten dollars, or take me any longer than five minutes to make.
{DIY}
What you will need:
One medium sized plate
One candle stick
One small bowl
A few Q-tips
A tube of super glue
*Hint: search thrift stores, garage sales, or home good stores such as Marshalls for inexpensive pieces!
Apply super glue to both the top and bottom of the candle stick. Once evenly spread using the Q-tips, place the candlestick in the center of the plate, and then place the bowl on top. Use a new Q-tip to remove any excess glue.
Wait for the super glue to dry and then add your precious jewels and enjoy!
Leather is a must-have this fall season; and let me just tell you, I would wear something with leather every single day if I could. Take a look at a few of my leather leaders.
I just can't help myself, I am "falling" for wedged ankle boots this season.
I love my new wedged biker boots (as seen above), they are the perfect accessory to any outfit - casual enough for the day and fierce, or shall I say {w}edgy enough for the night. With wedged ankle boots, you can't go wrong. What else is on the list? Check out below!
My Saturday was a day filled with my {favorite} thing in the world, music.
The fun started at the Beekman Beer Garden, down on the water in the financial district, where my friend hosted the Bud Light Lime end of summer party. The party included free beer, food and best of all, music! By 5 p.m. the crowd was going crazy thanks to performances by Swizz Beatz, Araabmuzik and Jermaine Dupri.
Needless to say, it was a great start to a night that had hardly just begun.
After the beerfest, I ventured to the Central Park Great Lawn for Global Festival, which included live music from The Black Keys, Band of Horses, K'naan, Neil Young and last but certainly not least, {the Foo Fighters}.
Towards the end of the Foo Fighters' set, lead singer, Dave Grohl, hit the crowd with some shocking news.
"Without making a big deal out of it, we don't have any shows after this," Grohl said. "This is it, man. Honestly, I don't know when we're gonna do it again... and this is the perfect place to do it, right now, tonight."
Regardless of if the Foo Fighters really do go on hiatus, I am feeling very lucky to have been one of the 60,000 people who got to see the last performance of their tour... in Central Park, nonetheless.
Hello fall, and hello nude! I am big fan of all things nude.
Now for the good stuff (my picks!)
The white peplum from Topshop is one of my all-time favorites; it helps to accentuate the smallest part of your waist and keeps you looking classy while doing so. Pair it with a skinny jean (I always opt for J Brand), stylish boots (you can never go wrong with Madewell's "Old Town Boot"), a statement necklace, over sized glasses such as these Linda Farrow's and a chic clutch, and you will be fall ready in no time! Add a touch of sass to the look by swiping on Tom Ford lipstick in "Spanish Pink" and voilá! Hello fall, hello stylish you!
Not only did Lil Wanye manage to make it to age 30, he also managed to top Elvis Presley's record of 108 hit singles on Billboards Hot 100 singles chart. The song that earned him his bragging {and celebratory} rights is entitled "Celebration"... isn't that fitting!
(Click photo to listen to Celebration - Game ft. Chris Brown, Tyga, Wiz Khalifa & Lil Wayne)
If Weezy can surpass the "King of Rock and Roll" on the Billboard Top 100 list, then he really must be the best rapper alive. Talk about one hell of a birthday!
Fall, what a magical time of the year; the leaves changing, the air changing, the fashion changing...
Fall is hands down my favorite season to dress for {especially in New York} because it allows me to play around with my wardrobe, mixing all sorts of fun pieces together. These are my go-to accessories for fall.
{Fall Finds}
The classic cargo jacket is not too heavy, yet not too light, so it is perfect for the cool breeze that the crisp fall air provides. My favorite is the Ohara by Rag & Bone. If you are feeling daring, pair your trendy cargo with biker boots, or keep it safe with a classic ballet flat. In my opinion, you can never go wrong with gold. These Anito Ko earrings are the perfect everyday stud, and not to mention they are to die for! Mix up this grunge look with a dainty necklace such as this Jennifer Zeuner swirly initial necklace. What to wear underneath? Who cares! Nobody will be able to look past your killer accessories to find out.
Rihanna was surely shinning bright like a diamond this morning with the release of her latests single, "Diamonds." It's got an upbeat, happy vibe to it that you can't help but bop along to. That Rihanna reign just wont let up! I think I'll add this one to my "hitting the town" playlist. Will you be adding this to your iPod? (Click the photo to listen!)
With fall in full swing, I can't seem to shake my summertime blues (or my summertime playlist for that matter). Don't get me wrong, I am ecstatic to be wearing my cargo jacket and ankle booties, but sad to be putting away my high-waisted shorts and sandals. Bittersweet.
One {of the many} things I love about music is that it doesn't fade with seasons. Here are a few "summertime" songs I will be jamming to throughout fall.
Connor Youngblood - A Summer Song
A friend of mine introduced me to Connor Youngblood early last year and I immediately fell in love with his voice and the way he composes his music. This is one of my favorite chill songs, enjoy!
Lana Del Rey - Summertime Sadness (Remix)
My girl Lana. In my opinion, Lana Del Rey can do no wrong. Her sultry, raspy voice puts me in a daze whether it be during an upbeat, sassy song or a low-key melody, this girl kills it.
Sameblod - Loud Summer Heart (Remix)
This remix to Sameblod's Loud Summer Heart just makes me feel like groovin'. I could listen to it on repeat and hear something new every time.
A big hello, and a big welcome to Harmony&Hem! I am very anxious and excited to get this baby up and running, as it is something I have been contemplating doing for quite some time now.
It wasn't until my recent move to the City of Lights (yes New York City!) that I really felt the urge to sit down and get the ball rolling. This city has so much to offer in every aspect. From the culture, to the fashion, to the food, to the music... the list goes on and on; it would be shameful not to document and share my experiences and inspiration with those who so seek it. So that is just what I plan on doing! This is your one-stop-shop for all things fashion, all things music, do-it-yourselfers, and somuch more.

To start, I'll tell you a bit about myself.
The name is Amanda. I am a recent transplant from Texas, in which I was born and raised (and I have just as much pride as every other Texan, y'all). I recently graduated from The University of Texas at Austin where I got my BS in public relations with a minor in business. I moved to the City that Never Sleeps (yes, it's true - no one ever sleeps here!) in July to pursue a career in the fabulous world of fashion. I am currently working as a freelance fashion assistant at Vanity Fair Magazine, and I am absolutely loving it. I hope you venture back sooner rather than later!
